“Wake” – Lisa McMann

Wake (Wake Series, Book 1)
It was the cover, I admit it. There is one thing the “Twilight” series has given to the YA book world and that is graphically arresting covers. At last.

Then it was the blurb. What a concept! A girl who can bounce into other people’s dreams. And then there’s the writing. It’s staccato. It’s hard-hitting and riveting. There’s emotional punch in every line, sometimes every word. I loved this book for a number of reasons: 1) it’s got a fresh concept, 2) it’s got a strong female protagonist, 3) it’s well-written in a very edgy style.

P.S. I read the rest of the trilogy in a weekend. I couldn’t savour. I couldn’t wait.
